Big speed in Texas for Summit Racing driver Anderson

Dallas, Texas, September 21, 2014 – Greg Anderson came to Texas Motorplex for this weekend’s AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals ready to help his teammate Jason Line continue the championship chase, and although he was stopped a bit short, the Summit Racing Pro Stock driver uncovered a good amount of speed and looks eagerly ahead to the remaining four races on the 2014 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.

Reaching the second round in Dallas, the Mooresville, N.C.-based driver was enthused and could see the beacon of success at a racetrack where he has claimed four wins in five finals. Unfortunately, Anderson was ever so slightly too quick to react at the tree and illuminated the red-light by .008-second. Shane Gray was awarded the win.

“We try to press hard every round and be faster than the guy in the other lane, but sometimes we go over the line. When that happens, you’re very angry with yourself,” said Anderson, who has only seen the red light 22 times in a career that has spanned 352 races and 859 rounds of competition.

The bright spot for Anderson was that he recorded top speed of the meet in his white Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro with a 210.97 mph run in his first round defeat of Jeg Coughlin. Anderson annihilated his troubled challenger with the crushing run, 6.595 to 9.460, 108.85.

“That round meant something to us here, and anytime you can put the yellow car on the trailer, Team Summit is happy,” said Anderson. “We showed that we do have good speed, but we just have to work on the car a little bit. It’s been ailing in the first 60 feet, but we’ll keep working on it. Right now, we need to get home to Mooresville and the KB Racing shop and work on a few things before the race next week.

“The trucks are going straight from Dallas to St. Louis, so we won’t be able to do any car testing but we’ll continue to test our engines in pursuit of making them better. We have four races to go, and we’re going to try our darndest to help our teammate Jason Line win this championship for Summit Racing and our team owners Ken and Judy Black.”
