Team Falken at British Drift Championship Round 5: Silverstone Circuit, Northants

Silverstone, Northants – Team Falken’s Matt Carter and Paul Cheshire put on an exciting drifting display at the UK’s largest modified car event, TRAX, at the world-famous Silverstone Circuit.

The fifth round of the 2014 British Drift Championship would be a Super Pro-only affair, and would take place on the Brooklands and Luffield bends of the legendary Silverstone GP circuit in Northamptonshire. Team Falken’s Matt Carter and Paul Cheshire would take part in the competition, hoping to secure valuable points in the penultimate event of the season.

After a brief practice session and demo for the eager spectators, both drivers would head out to qualify, which they did; Paul securing 13th place and Matt 14th place, respectively. Paul would do battle first, facing fierce competition in Danny Eyles in the Team Japspeed Subaru. After two close runs, the judges awarded Danny the victory. Matt would first face mechanical problems, having to replace his differential at the last minute, before beating Simon Perry in his first battles. The Falken-backed driver proceeded to meet Spaniard Lluis Lopez in the next round. After two close runs, Matt unfortunately dropped a wheel off track on his chase run, ending his event with 12 crucial points.

Paul Cheshire commented, “The competition at this level is incredibly fierce, so both Matt and myself were happy to qualify where we did. Aside from the competition runs, it was great fun driving at a track with such heritage. The Falken Azenis Fk-453 tyres were perfect for this circuit and gave us complete confidence in throwing the cars into the corners at the high speeds that Silverstone commands.”
